Sani. -- Souls.
Bawasani. -- Ancestors.
Validaxiar. -- The Chosen One.

A young gabir, or female child, is named for doing something out of the ordinary. Will she become Demiar, a named elder, or will she be released to her ancestors, as the Tebawa believe happens when one is killed?

An even younger tabir, or male child, is named for his defining trait. He will become powerful Demiar, but that does not exempt him from being harshly judged and misunderstood by others, or from being named again.
The Tebawa are an ancient people residing in the eastern U. S. thousands of years ago. Life is much simpler: follow the natural order. If a Tebawa is named, Demiar, they must enforce others' following of the natural order. The greatest fear of every Tebawa is Bardete, the true death. These characters must escape Bardete for their sani to move on to their next lives, and they must live up to their earned namesakes to survive.

The 3rd Book in the Merely Mortal Series is on its way!

Bawasani. -- Old souls.
Validaxiar. -- Higher Power.
Kedavalia. -- Moon Goddess

Gabia Ata, the children's forest, is supposed to be a protected, peaceful place, but this time around, this is threatened by the savage Tedemiar.

The very old Validaxiar has become very, very tired and must pass on this higher power before it consumes her physical existence and her soul. However, the next Chosen One for this power has before rejected its influence, and the Demiar are split on how to address the demands of this apparent deity.
The Tebawa have changed some since The Other Way -- some are positive changes but others are not. Life isn't so simple as to follow the natural order any more -- living without a name means being a part of the unnamed herd and never having peace. Being Demiar means being even more political and choosing sides when disagreements occur. The greatest fear of every Tebawa is still Bardete, but the moon goddess does not fear this and seems to have unlimited power -- will the Tebawa choose to worship and follow the physical being who may indeed be their moon goddess, or will they seek a way to overcome this apparent deity who is telling them to extremely change their customs?
